Nunzio Del Greco
Nunzio Del Greco is President and CEO of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held since November 2015. He was unanimously hired by both the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce on November 9, 2015.
For Nunzio, it’s a home coming since he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce in 1984. He has a framed copy of the 91st Annual Luncheon Program held May 29, 1985 at “The Eastwood” Manor. His name is printed in the Program along with such distinguished individuals as George Steinbrenner; Henry G. Waltermade; Hon. Mario Merola; Michael J. Durso; and many others. Nunzio is a part the Chamber’s rich history and here today to lead the organization into the future.
Nunzio is a seasoned Executive with 30 plus years of extraordinary record of leadership, integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, strategic planning, productivity and achievement.
He began his career as an Association Executive in 1983 as Executive Vice President of the Bronx Board of Realtors. He quickly became an intuitive problem solver, consensus builder and diplomatic mediator and brought together some of the most successful people with very diverse backgrounds to work together for the common good of the association. He coined the slogan “you never know if your next big deal is coming from”. Through his efforts, many companies have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in business from contacts made through membership, advertising in publications and by networking at major events.
In 1983 with a membership of under one hundred and a budget of less than $80,000, Nunzio over the years grew the membership to over 1,000 members and began generating over $1,000,000 annually without any grants or public funding. He also expanded the organization’s jurisdiction to include Manhattan with the name change to the Bronx-Manhattan Association of Realtors (BMAR).
In addition to running the day to day operations of BMAR staff and office, Nunzio produced 5 annual publications and the Realtor & Business Newsletter, a 16 page monthly edition distributed via email to over 13,500 contacts throughout Greater New York. Nunzio orchestrated successfully 4 major annual networking events from inception, marketing, promotion, to completion with precision and attention to detail with some events attracting over 1,000 attendees.
Nunzio relocated BMAR’s headquarters twice since 1983. As a result of annual surpluses generated, a significant milestone took place in 1992 for the first time since its founding in 1924 with the purchase of prime commercial property, 1867 Williamsbridge Road, as the official home of BMAR. The purchase price was $327,000. The building is now valued at over $1,000,000. BMAR is the only Realtor Board in New York City that owns its building. The Realtor Building stands as a monument to the success of almost 30 years with Nunzio as Chief Executive Officer.
Nunzio holds a Master’s Degree from St. John’s University in Public Administration and was a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Government and Politics. He completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Queens College graduating with honors in Political Science. Del Greco has completed over 18 certificate programs from the NAR and also earned the distinguished RCE (Realtor Certified Executive) designation in 2003. Nationally, RCE designees are the top 6% of Association Executives. In New York State, Nunzio became the 3rd Association Executive to earn the designation and he was the 1st male Executive in New York with the RCE designation. In 1995, Nunzio served as Chairman of NYSAR’s Association Executives Committee and promoted communication, sharing ideas and local issues between Executives statewide. The Annual Seminar was expanded to include national speakers. He believes education is a lifelong process and has fun learning new things every day.
According to Nunzio “the keys for professional success are: great interpersonal and communication skills; broad knowledge base; being an effective facilitator and consensus builder; flexible and adaptable to change; a passion for getting things done; intuition; and last but not least, a good sense of humor”. His hobbies include cooking, gardening and wine-making. He likes to laugh a lot and relieves stress through regular yoga, Bagua and Qigong practice.
Nunzio is the only Executive to serve as President and CEO of both the Bronx Chamber of Commerce and BMAR. Nunzio was presented the 2004 Distinguished Service Award at BMAR’s 80th Annual Banquet. He was also presented the Businessman of the Year Award by the Bronx County Historical Society in 2010 and the Lifetime Service Award by BMAR in 2013.
