INTERNSHIP CONNECTOR

Our New Platform

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected both businesses and job-seeking students in unprecedented ways. Our new pilot platform, the Internship Connector, aims to help businesses find the help they need, while providing local students with resume-building internship experience.

The goal of the Internship Connector is to help connect students at the Bronx Chamber's Member colleges & universities to internship opportunities with Member businesses & organizations. The Chamber serves as a “hub” where internship postings, job fairs, and key information needed to hire a student intern are made easily accessible for our Members via our website and scheduled email communications. See below for more details!

FAQ's

I represent an organization that is not a current Chamber Member. Can I still use the Internship Connector platform?

  • At this time, use of the IC platform is for Chamber Members only. Membership has many benefits in addition to this, so please click here to join.

How will Internship postings reach students?

  • We will send Internship listings directly to the appropriate representatives at Chamber Member colleges and universities to share with their students, and post them on this webpage in the Member access-only section.

How are interns compensated?

  • Interns can work for college credit, for an hourly rate or stipend provided by the hiring business/org., or through Federal Work Study (FWS)* if eligible.

What should I know about hiring an intern via FWS?

  • *Please note: each school has its own policies regarding off-campus internships funded via FWS, as outlined in our Resource Bank.

  • Eligible businesses seeking interns will need to coordinate with representatives from the schools to register as approved employer partners. The prospective student intern must also be approved to work via FWS, through the Financial Aid, Student Employment and/or other applicable department(s) of the college/university they attend (this process often differs from campus to campus). Once onboarded, the student will be told the date they may begin to work. Their internship supervisor at the hiring business/org. will be responsible for reviewing and approving time sheets in order for the student to get paid.
