    TRAVEL ADVISORY: NOTE: the MTA has not been running #1 trains above 137th Street on weekends. If this is true on August 13th, take the shuttle bus from the 207th Street on the A train stop to 242nd and budget 30 minutes extra time. Transfer from the #1 to the A can be made at 168th Street. ————— See engaging architecture including a pair of Revolutionary War-era buildings, Spanish-American War artifacts, remnants of forgotten passenger railway; enjoy a summer afternoon by Van Cortland Park. Meet up: Broadway and West 242nd Street, on the right side of the street at the elevated train exit on the park side, last stop of the #1. Fee: $15 Greater Astoria Historical Society; $20 all others.
